Wizz Air has announced the opening of a direct link between Gran Canaria and Rome, allowing Canarians to enjoy the cultural richness of the Italian capital in just a few hours of flight. EasyJet, for its part, will connect Gran Canaria with Birmingham, expanding travel options from the United Kingdom.

In 2023, the average salary for full-time employees in Birmingham was €34.037, with an unemployment rate of 7,7%.
The local airline Binter has also strengthened its offer with new frequencies to national destinations. Starting this Easter, Gran Canaria will have direct flights to Valencia, Córdoba, Almería and Badajoz, with two to four weekly frequencies, thus improving connectivity between the islands and the peninsula.
With connections to key destinations such as Rome, Birmingham and several Spanish cities, Gran Canaria is positioned as a strategically located travel hub.

However, the economic recovery in some regions has allowed more people to plan holidays and getaways, looking for accessible and attractive destinations such as in the south of Gran Canaria.
In 2024, inflation in the Eurozone was 2.5%, affecting the purchasing power of families. The cost of living in cities such as Rome and Birmingham has increased by 3% in the last year, impacting the family travel budget.
