Lucía Jiménez: “With these rental aids we want to alleviate the economic burden of many working families in the municipality”

Alejandro Marichal: “Housing is the main concern of our neighbors, along with this achievement, we are working on the rehabilitation of the existing housing stock and the construction of public housing”

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana Housing Department has concluded the review period for the 145 applications received to access Rental Aid, an initiative launched in November 2024 by the area headed by Lucía Jiménez, with an initial budget of 1 million euros for this call. Jiménez highlights that the amount allocated aims to "alleviate the burden of rent and guarantee access to decent housing for families and working people with difficulties."

Following the application period and the review of the files received, the Council has published the list of people who must correct the demand. Of the 145 applications submitted, 117 people are required to correct or complete the necessary documentation in their files to be eligible for this benefit. In turn, 25 applications have been rejected and three applicants have opted for voluntary rejection. The people summoned for the correction will have a period of 10 working days, counted from the day after publication, to submit the required documentation.

The list is available both on the notice board of the Town Hall's electronic headquarters and on the municipal website. The people who appear on it must provide the required documentation using the standard form, also available on the Town Hall's website.

According to current regulations, if the documentation is not submitted within the established period, the application will be considered withdrawn, in accordance with article 68 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

For his part, the first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, highlights the firm commitment of the Housing department: “We are aware that housing is one of the main concerns of our residents.” Marichal stresses that, with this measure, one of the objectives set for the legislature is met and that work will continue to ensure that “the rehabilitation of the existing housing stock and the construction of public housing becomes a reality.”
