Art and love go hand in hand in '8 poems for Ana', Luis Montull's exhibition at the Auditorium with the collaboration of the Cabildo.

 

From March 22 to 31, the Jerónimo Saavedra Hall of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium will host the exhibition "8 Poems for Ana" by visual artist Luis Montull. This exhibition comprises thirty paintings and thirty sculptures that engage with the Atlantic Ocean and, above all, pay tribute to the memory of his lifelong companion, Ana Moles.

 

The exhibition, supported by the Island Institution, was organized by the Atlantis Women's Association in collaboration with the Northern Gran Canaria Business Association and will open this Saturday at 19.00:XNUMX p.m. It is the first multidisciplinary exhibition of its kind to be held at the Auditorium.

 

The exhibition's contents and motivations were presented this morning at the Gran Canaria Island Council in a press conference attended by its president, Antonio Morales; the regional minister of culture, Guacimara Medina; the curator and president of the Association of Women of Atlantis, Chessie Nan; and the artist himself, a leading figure in the Canary Islands' cultural scene during the 20th and early 21st centuries.

 

Morales emphasized that Motull's work "transfers to the cold, stony mineral the feelings of an artist who was inspired by his father's cabinetmaking workshop to forge his career at the Luján Pérez School, guided by the radiant personality of Abraham Cárdenes and the enthusiastic indigenous movement that flourished in the classrooms of that surprising talent pool."

 

 

"From those materials emerge the forms that he has crafted for seventy years, with a common denominator: the sentiment reflected in his characters, his forms, and, above all, in that life partner who inspires this selection of pieces. Love is the common thread running through this exhibition, which is presented as a tribute to women during the month in which the feminine dimension of our social reality is celebrated," the island president emphasized.

 

For his part, Montull took advantage of the event to thank the City Council for its support of the initiative. "All that remains for me to say is that I look forward to seeing you at the exhibition. I can't say much more," said an artist who has spent his entire life speaking with the voice of his creative passion.  

 

"This project was born of love, as the culmination of a life and professional journey, although it's not exactly a retrospective, with the presence of the air and soil of the Canary Islands and a reminder of the inspiration of his lifelong partner," said Guacimara Medina. 

 

Finally, Chessie Nan emphasized that “Ana Moles was an extraordinary woman, an angel on earth. It's very important to us that the biographies of these forgotten women be valued.” She also emphasized that the exhibition, due to its location and content, “is unique and unprecedented in Gran Canaria,” because geniuses, she said, are those who do what no one has ever done.
