The Gran Canaria Socialists held their Island Congress, an event marked by the active participation of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana group. Carlos Álamo, a member of the party's regional leadership, stated at the end of the PSOE island conclave that the Congress "was not only a space for the renewal of positions, but also for the ideological rearmament of the party." Álamo has appointed Gustavo Santana, Kevin Paz, Irasema Hernández, and Dámaso Romano to the island leadership, along with nine other members who now form part of the Island Committee. The island's secretary general, Sebastián Franquis, urged them to assume the responsibilities that their new role entails with the utmost diligence, confident that they will be equal to the challenges they face.
The PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has focused much of its strategy on developing tourism, recognizing its role as a key economic driver for the municipality and the island of Gran Canaria. This approach includes initiatives to improve tourism infrastructure, promote a sustainable model, and diversify the offering to attract both national and international visitors.
With prominent figures like Concepción Narváez, the party has sought to lead projects that not only benefit San Bartolomé de Tirajana but also contribute to the progress of the entire island. Its commitment to improving the quality of life for residents and strengthening the local economic fabric remains a priority on its political agenda. Regarding political leadership, the PSOE has worked to strengthen its presence in island governments, taking an active role in decision-making that affects the entire island. This includes promoting policies that balance economic development with the protection of the natural environment, a crucial aspect in a region as dependent on tourism as Gran Canaria.
