MASPALOMAS24H Monday, March 24, 2025

SPAR Gran Canaria and the Museo Canario have renewed their collaboration agreement for the sixth consecutive year to continue the "Family Visits" educational program, which will run throughout 2025. Through this project, families on the island can enjoy a free educational activity that seeks to spread cultural heritage and experience Canarian history and identity firsthand.

The renewal of the program was signed by the SPAR Gran Canaria board; its president, Ángel Medina Padrón, and its vice president, José López Peñate, together with the president of El Museo Canario, Diego López Díaz.

As a reflection of its commitment to Canarian heritage and culture, the SPAR Gran Canaria group continues to support El Museo Canario's "Family Visits" program. The program holds themed events one Sunday a month, year-round, with a fun and participatory approach, offering a variety of activities such as workshops, games, dramatized visits, and dynamic tours.

The initiative's success was further consolidated last year, with 110 families participating in the 12-day "Family Visits" program, with a total of 259 attendees, including 147 children between the ages of 4 and 12, and 112 adults.

The program will continue in upcoming sessions with a day of storytelling, the workshops "Design Your Exhibition," "The EMC Archive," and the "Archaeology Workshop," as well as museum visits and workshops, where participants can explore the ways and conditions of life of the Aboriginal population of Gran Canaria.

To attend upcoming visits, those interested can check the schedule and register through the Museo Canario website and social media.

Commitment to Canarian culture

With this educational program, the SPAR Gran Canaria group contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) Quality Education, by supporting an initiative that seeks to teach history to develop social skills and abilities, while promoting cross-cutting values of inclusion, sustainability, solidarity, and equality, incorporating technological innovation for an immersive learning experience.

SPAR Gran Canaria's commitment to the culture rooted in the traditions of the Canarian people is reinforced, in addition to the support and promotion of this project, with other actions such as the continued sponsorship of the Gran Canarian folk group Los Gofiones, which this year will celebrate its 21st anniversary since the first collaboration, or the sponsorship of the SPAR Guerra del Río lateen sail boat, which will soon be renewed for the 22nd consecutive year.
