Lucía Jiménez: "We're responding to a long-standing demand from the residents of Montaña Clara. Their apartment buildings are finally going to be renovated."
Alejandro Marichal: "This is further proof of the department's commitment to the rehabilitation of the existing housing stock."
The Housing Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has successfully secured the Montaña Clara residential complex's inclusion in the Planned Rehabilitation Residential Environments (ERRP) program, a subsidy program promoted by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda as part of the European Union-funded Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (Next Generation EU).
As part of the administrative procedure required to implement this project, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has initiated a budget amendment that will be submitted to the next municipal plenary session. This amendment will allow the corresponding funding allocations for the project to be incorporated into the municipal budget, thus ensuring the economic and administrative viability of the Montaña Clara rehabilitation project.
The inclusion of Montaña Clara in this program is the first step toward ensuring that these residential blocks can benefit from future comprehensive renovations, with improvements in energy efficiency, accessibility, structural safety, and the quality of the urban environment. During the information meeting with residents, Councilor for Housing Lucía Jiménez explained that "we are taking the first step toward ensuring that Montaña Clara is included in the aid program, which will allow us to improve not only its homes but also the surroundings of this residential area."
Jiménez emphasized that a process is now underway that will require preliminary technical studies and the drafting of the renovation project, which will be agreed upon with the homeowners' association. He also emphasized that these types of programs not only have a positive impact on the homes themselves, but also on the urban environment and the quality of life of residents.
First Deputy Mayor Alejandro Marichal noted that "with Montaña Clara, several residential developments have now been included in the renovation programs, such as La Paz, Las Llaves, El Pajar, Castillo del Romeral, and Ifa. This is part of our roadmap: to commit to the renovation of the existing housing stock in San Bartolomé de Tirajana and to the efficient management of European resources."
The estimated budget for the planned intervention in Montaña Clara amounts to 1.720.603,04 euros, which will be financed by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda with a contribution of 787.520 euros, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council with 486.229,52 euros, the Gran Canaria Housing Consortium with 446.853,52 euros, and the owners with a joint contribution of 9.600 euros.
This inclusion in the ERRP program represents a historic opportunity to transform Montaña Clara into a safer, more accessible, efficient, and livable residential environment, reinforcing the City Council's commitment to improving the municipality's urban fabric.
