The rehabilitation works of the Maspalomas Palm Grove, a commitment that the Basque Country, the People's Party (PP), and the Regional Government have requested to be given top priority, represent an ambitious project to revitalize this emblematic natural space. With an investment of €6,8 million, financed by the Gran Canaria Island Council and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Hall, the project seeks to restore native vegetation, improve trails, create rest areas, and design a bio-healthy route, in the terminology used by Las Palmas officials without roots in southern Gran Canaria who are specially assigned to the project. In addition, children's areas and an interpretation center will be included to highlight the history of the palm grove. The project, covering 90.000 square meters, will be carried out by the company Tragsa and will be integrated with the nearby Tony Gallardo Park, forming a natural space of almost 200.000 square meters. This project not only has a positive environmental impact but also seeks to diversify the area's tourist offering, making it a landmark for residents and visitors.
