Mogán asks Costas to manage the Puerto Rico beach and promenade to promote its rehabilitation.

In a plenary session, the Mogán City Council approved a request to the General Directorate of Coasts and Management of the Canary Islands Maritime Space for the concession of the Puerto Rico beach, promenade, and breakwater to carry out a rehabilitation project covering a total of 31.460 square meters. This request aims to allow the City Council to undertake actions such as improving the promenade between the breakwaters, creating safe and accessible access to the beach, and rehabilitating the current space, which is heavily used by residents and tourists. The proposal received favorable votes from Juntos por Mogán and the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party), with an abstention from NC-BC.

The origin of this request dates back to the signing of the reversion deed for the concession granted in 1972 to Puerto Rico SA, which was formalized at the end of 2021. Subsequently, in September 2022, the City Council was authorized to manage the seasonal services at this beach. However, in order to undertake the comprehensive rehabilitation of these spaces—which include infrastructure under which shops and terraces are located—the City Council needs to formally obtain the concession from the competent authority.

During the same plenary session, a motion presented by Nueva Canarias to halt the bidding process for the construction of the future funeral home in Pino Seco, Arguineguín, was debated. The first deputy mayor, Mencey Navarro, defended the project, noting that the funeral home will be built underground, without affecting the park, square, or adjacent green spaces, and highlighting its proximity to the Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Navarro recalled that the project was announced in 2019, and that the ordinance permitting this use was approved in 2020 without objection. The motion was rejected with votes against from Juntos por Mogán, abstention from the PSOE, and a favorable vote from NC-BC.
