The Carnival's strong security and emergency response, led by Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez at all times, allowed the parade with 115 floats and more than 300.000 participants to take place on time and in compliance with all the security plan provisions.

The Councilor for Security and Emergencies of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council praised the work carried out by the security team at the Maspalomas International Carnival during Saturday's grand parade, which featured 115 floats and more than 300.000 participants, as "extraordinary."

“The parade has been a success once again this year, largely thanks to the work of the nearly 500 people involved in event security and logistics, including police, medical, and civil protection personnel, as well as municipal staff associated with the Department of Roads and Public Works,” says José Carlos Álamo Ojeda.

The security measures for the grand parade began at 8:00 a.m. with the gradual closure of various streets along the route and the removal of parked vehicles, in accordance with the municipal decree issued by Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez.

To control the arrival and supervise the safety measures for each float, the Maspalomas Local Police and Fire Department set up a mobile command post on Avenida de la Unión Europea, where the floats were initially parked.

The Councilor for Security also praised the punctuality with which the action programs outlined in the security plan were implemented, such as the opening of the public transportation system, which began operating at 0:XNUMX p.m., the same time that Point XNUMX, or the main command post, was activated at the Local Police Station, from where the entire security operation for the parade was monitored, coordinated, and controlled. He also highlighted the punctuality with which the festive procession began, at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., and the arrival time of the last float at its parking lot on Avenida Tui, at around XNUMX:XNUMX a.m.

José Carlos Álamo also highlights the coordination established between security and municipal cleaning services, which enabled the gradual and rapid opening of streets as the last of the floats passed by, and which allowed the operational sections of Avenida de Italia to be opened from 11 p.m.

Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez and Councilman José Carlos Álamo express their gratitude for the dedication, involvement, and hard work of all the members of the security and emergency forces who participated in the security operation for the grand parade, and for the civic and festive behavior demonstrated throughout the parade by all the masked parades.

Incidences

Four fixed medical assistance points were established for the parade, and another 4 checkpoints were deployed throughout the event. José Carlos Álamo described the incidents attended to during the parade as "minimal and of little significance." There were 32 in total, of which 103 required an ambulance and 84 were referred to medical centers.

The resources allocated to providing medical care for the parade included 10 ambulances, two of them collective, three rapid response medical vehicles, three small hospitals, and two logistics vehicles.

The team involved in the operation consisted of 15 drivers, 8 emergency technicians, 8 nurses, and three doctors.
