Through advanced processes, they extract phytochemicals from herbs, roots, and fruits, transforming them into dietary supplements and cosmetic products. They use raw materials from regions as diverse as Siberia, Northern Europe, South Africa, and China. “From these sources, we obtain botanical extracts that become key components for beverages, capsules, or even gummies,” they explain.
In its B2B model, Nektium collaborates exclusively with companies, supplying large pharmaceutical companies and dietary supplement producers rather than targeting end consumers. From its modern production plant in Gran Canaria, the company generates nearly 200 tons of products annually, employing 55 professionals. By 2024, Nektium's revenue reached €19,5 million, consolidating its position as a benchmark in the sector.
From the outset, Nektium has pursued an international focus with a strong focus on the US market. “We began collaborating with groups we had previously advised, and step by step, we managed to expand,” says Miguel, who highlights the support received from Banco Santander in financial management and foreign exchange. Furthermore, their rapid response during the pandemic was crucial in keeping operations running.
Nektium holds multiple patents and clinical studies that support the quality of its products. Zynamite, a mango leaf extract designed to improve mental and physical energy, won the NutraIngredients Award for Best Ingredient in Sports Nutrition in 2018. Currently, with 25 international patents, the company remains focused on exports, especially to the United States, South Korea, and Europe. In North America, they work with strategic partners such as PLT Health Solutions to distribute their innovative ingredients.
Nektium's notable products include Rhodiolife, derived from Siberian Rhodiola rosea, known for reducing stress and improving mental well-being. Xanthigen, meanwhile, combines brown algae extracts and pomegranate oil and is popular in Asia for its metabolic benefits. Vanizem, a recent addition, is an African plant extract aimed at emotional well-being and sleep. This product, presented at Vitafoods Europe 2024, is currently expanding into key markets.
