Mahou San Miguel, a peninsular company owned by the Gervás family, has taken a strategic step toward diversifying its business in the south of Gran Canaria with the introduction of Fonteide Service, a natural mineral water dispenser system in the Canary Islands. With this launch, the company seeks to consolidate its leadership in a market experiencing double-digit annual growth in the islands, aiming to become the leading player in this field by 2030.
Aguacana, owned by transport entrepreneur Óscar Díaz, and Aquaservice, owned by Saeed Amidi, an Iranian-American businessman operating through his multinational ALPS (American Liquid Packaging Systems), are two companies operating in the water sector in southern Gran Canaria, but with different approaches. The former is a Canarian company specializing in the packaging and distribution of natural mineral water with brands such as Fuente Bruma and Fuenteniguada. They offer low-mineralization products and have options such as carafes and bottles in different formats. They also offer a home delivery service in southern Gran Canaria, facilitating access to their products in the tourism and business sectors.
Mahou's service incorporates technology and digitalization options, allowing for flexible management through a mobile app. The dispensers are available in different formats and are BPA-free. They also use paper cups instead of plastic, in line with the principles of sustainability and reducing environmental impact. This commitment to the environment is especially relevant for the communities in southern Gran Canaria, where environmental protection is a priority.
The initiative also contributes to the local economy, according to Mahou, "by employing dozens of professionals in the production process, which includes mineral water sourced from volcanic soils." "The expansion strategy contemplates strengthening its presence in the south of Gran Canaria as a key point in its implementation and development."
