Two people arrested as alleged perpetrators of five vehicle thefts and credit card thefts
Following the investigation of one of the robberies, the rest were clarified.
On March 19, 2025, the Civil Guard in Vecindario arrested two people charged with five counts of burglary for stealing money and belongings from the interior of several vehicles, and another count of fraudulent use of a credit card. They are also charged with damages totaling approximately €800.
The investigation began after a citizen reported the theft of documents, a credit card, and other personal belongings from his vehicle parked in the town of Vecindario on January 23. The victim later realized that his credit card had been used for several purchases. Officers from the Civil Guard's Investigation Area quickly identified the suspects after an exhaustive analysis of the images obtained from the surrounding area.
However, their experience led them to investigate the case in more depth, suspecting that it could be a broader criminal pattern, as the modus operandi employed could be consistent with other previously reported cases.
Their suspicions were confirmed when they discovered that the detainees had committed robberies in other vehicles between January 22 and 23, stealing money, phone accessories, and even household appliances. On February 12, the detainees managed to steal a bicycle from another vehicle, which led to their arrest days later at the time of its sale, thus serving to strengthen investigators' leads.
The detainees, along with the proceedings, were brought before the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Duty Court.
This action has not only resolved several pending cases, but also demonstrates the Civil Guard's commitment to protecting the community's peace.
The Civil Guard advises citizens not to leave belongings visible in their vehicles, especially valuables and personal documents. They also recommend parking in well-lit areas and considering installing alarm devices.
