This weekend, the CC congress is being held. It seems that the Canary Islands Coalition is experiencing significant fragmentation, especially in Gran Canaria. Onalia Bueno's disconnection from the Tenerife leadership and her rapprochement with Teodoro Sosa mark a clear line within Canarian municipalism: there is an attempt to build an island alternative from Gran Canaria, without depending on Tenerife's directives.
The fact that the Las Palmas employers' association has approved this plan, even without the presence of Bueno or Sosa, indicates that there is real interest in supporting a project more rooted in the Gran Canaria context, perhaps more pragmatic and less tied to the CC brand.
The internal tension, especially given that Pablo Rodríguez has been interfering in contacts with Sosa and Bueno, only demonstrates the distrust and jealousy within the party. If Bueno has already announced that he will ask for a vote for Sosa in 2027, even if it means no party affiliation, a new political force on the island with institutional and financial support could be brewing.
