Emergency in Mogán: A man with drowning symptoms was rescued on Amadores beach.

An 84-year-old man of German origin was transferred by helicopter to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria after being rescued unconscious from the water with signs of drowning on Amadores beach, in the municipality of Mogán.

 

The incident occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 16:27 p.m., on Amadores Beach, in the municipality of Mogán. The Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Safety Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert reporting that a swimmer had been pulled from the sea with signs of drowning.

 

While emergency crews arrived, other bathers began resuscitating the victim, who was unconscious. Medical staff from the Arguineguín health center and paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) subsequently continued providing care. The victim, an 84-year-old German man, was stabilized at the scene.

 

Once recovered, he was transferred by medical helicopter from the SUC to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria, in serious condition due to symptoms of drowning.

 

Services involved:

 

The operation involved the basic life support ambulance and the medical helicopter from the SUC (Sector of Emergency Units), the doctor and nurse from the Arguineguín health center, the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium Firefighters, and Civil Protection, Local Police, and Civil Guard personnel.
