Swift action by the Gran Canaria Fire Department prevented major damage to a fire that broke out in a home in Ingenio, which also affected a hair salon located in the same building. The fire department remains on the scene, carrying out ventilation work.
A significant response from the Arinaga Fire Station on Friday helped contain a fire that broke out in a home located on Agustín Ramírez Díaz Street, in the Gran Canaria municipality of Ingenio. The fire also spread to a hair salon located in the same building, complicating the response.
Emergency services were activated at 18:20 p.m., and two crews from the Arinaga fire station were dispatched to the scene along with the on-duty commander. The fire, described as widespread, was extinguished by firefighters, who remain on the scene ventilating and restoring the building to safety.

One person suffered smoke inhalation and was treated and transferred to the Gran Canaria Insular University Hospital by the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC). The Ingenio Local Police also participated in the response. The fire department particularly praised the work of the Fire Control Officer, a key figure in coordinating these types of emergencies.
