In the vast horizon of Gran Canaria's economic history, Antonio Santana Miranda stands as a monumental figure, a true titan of tourism and hospitality whose legacy, although no longer with us, lives on. As the first president of the Gran Canaria Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs, Antonio was not only a leader but a visionary who paved the way for a bright future for the island.

From his iconic restaurant-bar, El Alpendre del Amo, in San Fernando, Antonio became a beacon of light illuminating the path of tourism in the region. There, in an atmosphere of camaraderie and celebration, he hosted the first festivities of Santa Marta, the patron saint of tourism and hospitality, transforming each event into an ode to Canarian culture and gastronomy. His establishment not only became a meeting point but also a culinary landmark that attracted Nordic and Scandinavian travelers, who found a piece of the island's soul in his dishes.

Antonio Santana Miranda's legacy did not go unnoticed. His tireless work was honored with the Bronze Medal for Tourism Merit at the national level in 1968, a testament to his dedication and passion. In 1984, he received the Beach Medal of Important Tourists of the Canary Islands, and in 2002,He was awarded the Medal of Tourist Merit and the title of Excellent Tourism of Maspalomas-San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Furthermore, its name resonates proudly in the 9th Canary Islands Leisure and Restaurant SMEs Award from FECAO.

Antonio Santana Miranda was, without a doubt, a hero of the hospitality industry, a pioneer who left an indelible mark on the history of tourism in Gran Canaria. His spirit and passion for the island continue to inspire new generations, reminding us that his legacy lives on in every corner of this land he loved so much.
