EOI Maspalomas cooperates at European level to improve teacher observation

The Maspalomas Official Language School strengthens its commitment to continuous teaching improvement through its active participation in the European TOP (Tools for Observation and Peer-learning) project. This initiative, part of the Erasmus+ program, seeks to promote teacher observation as a key tool for teacher professional development.

The TOP project arose from a shared need among European educational institutions: to increase the quality and impact of staff mobility, especially with regard to job shadowing. This practice allows teachers to observe colleagues in real-life classroom settings and jointly reflect on the methodologies used.

The project's main objectives include identifying the key characteristics of job shadowing experiences, developing a digital tool to guide the design and implementation of structured observations, and fostering a culture of peer observation in educational institutions.

The EOI Maspalomas actively contributes to these goals by regularly hosting language teachers from different European countries. During their stay, participants observe classes, teach, and share experiences in a structured manner, fostering the exchange of best practices and mutual learning.

Furthermore, the center has recently developed a specific course for project partners, demonstrating its active role as a driver of educational innovation internationally. With these initiatives, the Maspalomas EOI consolidates its position as a European benchmark in promoting Job Shadowing as a way to improve educational quality and teacher professional development.
