The Gran Canaria Island Energy Council has announced a new call for grants worth €700.000 to encourage the installation of photovoltaic systems in single-family homes and homeowners' associations. The main innovation this year is that the provider will be able to directly manage the collection of the grants, which will facilitate the financing of the installations. Homeowners' associations will be able to access up to €20.000 per project (€15.000 for photovoltaic systems and €5.000 for storage), while individual homes will be eligible for a maximum of €4.000 (€3.000 for panels and €1.000 for batteries).
In addition, €125.000 is allocated to a line of aid aimed at small businesses and non-profit organizations, with the aim of promoting self-consumption in the economic and social spheres. This call covers up to €500 per installed kilowatt (with a limit of €4.000) and up to €300 per kilowatt-hour of storage (maximum €1.000), with a total subsidy of up to €5.000 per project. The possibility of assigning the right to collect payments to the supplier is one of the most notable new features.
In the area of sustainable mobility, the Council is launching a €150.000 grant for the purchase of light electric vehicles, such as pedal-assisted bicycles, electric scooters, mopeds, and adapted vehicles. The grant will cover up to 50% of the cost, with limits of €1.000 for mopeds, €600 for bicycles and handbikes, and €1.500 for electric wheelchairs. All vehicles must meet current technical and safety requirements.
Applications can be submitted until December 31, 2025, or until funds are exhausted, preferably through the Island Energy Council's website. The Gran Canaria Island Council thus reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, energy sovereignty, and the transition toward a more efficient, accessible, and environmentally friendly model, benefiting all sectors of the island.
