While lifeguards subcontracted by Look Up, the company that provides services in its hotels, have been reporting non-payments since December and accusing Lopesan of turning a blind eye, the hotel group is enthusiastically launching its new flagship project: "Lopesan Vita," a plan to take care of the emotional, physical, and financial well-being of its employees.
The program, presented as an "innovative comprehensive wellness strategy," focuses on promoting mental health, a balanced diet, exercise, work-life balance, and, of course, financial stability. All this occurs in a context where workers at its own facilities claim to continue working without pay and report that the chain has replaced part of the service with temporary employment agency employees, creating inequality among colleagues performing the same duties.
Among the plan's benefits are the points system with rewards such as days off or spa sessions—a relief, perhaps, for those who see their paychecks arriving at the end of the month—and the collaboration with QReady to streamline medical procedures and offer psychological support. A truly empathetic proposal... except for those who haven't earned a euro in over three months. For them, the only reward is continuing to keep the pools open, not knowing when they'll get paid.
Although Lopesan Vita is promoted as an evolving plan intended to be extended to all of the group's hotels, the parallel reality reported by the rescuers seriously questions its coherence. "Financial well-being?" some employees ask. "Just getting paid on time would be enough." Meanwhile, internal signage is already announcing new hiking trails and yoga sessions on the beach, where perhaps some employees can take a deep breath and practice corporate resilience while waiting for their pending admission.
