A minor died this Saturday in southern Gran Canaria after drowning in a pool at the Taurito water park in the municipality of Mogán.
The tragic incident occurred this Saturday, April 19, at around 16:03 p.m., when a two-year-old girl drowned while enjoying the facilities of a water park in the Taurito area of the Gran Canaria municipality of Mogán.
According to the information gathered, the girl was alone in the water and disappeared under some mattresses, which meant she was not immediately located. When she was found, she was already in cardiac arrest. A doctor on the premises attempted to revive her, while park lifeguards began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 immediately activated emergency resources. Several ambulances and a medical helicopter from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) were dispatched to the scene, where medical teams continued with advanced resuscitation maneuvers. Despite all efforts, only the death of the minor could be confirmed.
The incident has caused profound shock among park workers and visitors who witnessed it. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.
The responding services included the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), with a medicalized helicopter, a medicalized ambulance, and a basic life support ambulance; the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, which assisted with the helicopter landing; the Civil Guard, which was in charge of conducting the investigation; the Mogán Local Police; and Civil Protection personnel.
