Sunshine and mild temperatures mark the start of the week in southern Gran Canaria.

MASPALOMAS24H Sunday, April 20, 2025

The good weather continues after the end of Easter, with clear skies and pleasant temperatures in the south and southeast of Gran Canaria, according to the State Meteorological Agency.

The Canary Islands Government, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, has updated the situation and declared a pre-alert for winds on all islands as of 16:00 p.m. yesterday, Saturday, April 19. This measure is being adopted based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and other official sources, in accordance with the Canary Islands Specific Emergency Plan for the Risk of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA). The pre-alert affects the islands of El Hierro, La Gomera, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and specific areas of La Palma, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria, including the peaks and coasts of Gáldar, Agaete, Artenara, La Aldea, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Agüimes, Ingenio, and Telde. Moderate to strong northeasterly winds are expected, averaging between 30 and 50 km/h, with gusts that could reach or exceed 60 to 70 km/h in exposed areas.

Next week will be marked by stable weather in the south and southeast of Gran Canaria. Temperatures will remain between 22°C and 26°C during the day, with mild lows around 15°C at night.

Skies will be clear to partly cloudy, with a low chance of precipitation. Light haze is expected at altitude starting Tuesday, but this will not significantly affect air quality in coastal areas.

The wind will blow from the northeast, with moderate gusts along the southeast coast, although no active warnings have been issued by the AEMET (Mexico City Meteorological Agency) or incidents reported by the 112 Canary Islands radio station so far.
