A cyclist was injured this Tuesday, April 22, on the GC-500 highway, near El Pajar, after colliding with a car in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The accident occurred around 15:14 p.m., when the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert informing them of the need for medical assistance in the area.
According to information provided by the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the cyclist, a man, suffered moderate cervical trauma and was transported in a basic life support ambulance to San Roque Maspalomas University Hospital.
It's worth noting that the first to respond was an off-duty emergency medical technician who treated the injured person until medical resources arrived. Subsequently, Emeral Ambulance and SUC personnel, as well as a doctor and nurse from the Arguineguín Health Center, arrived and accompanied the injured person during his transfer.
The operation also involved local police officers, who collaborated with emergency services, and the Civil Guard, which was responsible for regulating traffic and issuing a police report.
