The Canary Islands Government's General Directorate of Emergencies has activated the PLATECA emergency service (PLATECA) on alert following the widespread nationwide power outage. In the Canary Islands, essential services such as 1-1-2 have remained operational, although possible incidents are being monitored.
In response to the widespread power outage affecting the entire country, the Canary Islands Government's General Directorate of Emergencies has activated the Territorial Emergency Plan for Civil Protection of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (PLATECA) in an alert status starting at 15:15 p.m. this Monday, April 28, 2025. Although the Canary Islands have not experienced widespread outages as in other areas of the country, the decision has been made to declare the alert as a preventative measure and to ensure the operation of basic supplies and essential services.
The 1-1-2 Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Center has remained operational throughout the incident. The 012 information line (922 470 012 / 928 301 012), which experienced some temporary disruptions, has now been restored. However, occasional incidents may occur while the situation returns to normal. The Canary Islands Government thanks the public for their understanding and continues to closely monitor developments.
