The 12th edition of this event will bring together 95 exhibitors, 20 municipalities and 110 companies, exceeding the participation figures of previous years.
The event will feature a program full of activities, workshops and tastings for all audiences.
The Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair is preparing for its 12th edition with historic support from the primary sector, the island's municipalities, and industry. Promoted by the Gran Canaria Island Council and organized by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, the fair broke its own attendance record this year, consolidating its position as the unmissable event for professionals and lovers of gastronomy and local products.
The success of the event is reflected in the registration figures: a total of 95 exhibitors have confirmed their presence, surpassing the 85 registered for the 2024 edition. Institutional representation has also grown, with 20 municipalities from Gran Canaria showcasing the best of their products and traditions, compared to 19 last year. These figures, along with the high number of participating companies—110 registered this year, also surpassing the 81 figure of 2024—mark a milestone in the fair's history and demonstrate the strength and dynamism of the island's agri-food sector.
The president of the Gran Canaria Island Council, Antonio Morales, has praised the response to this edition, which "once again puts agri-food products at the center of attention" and returns with "the ultimate goals of facilitating local trade, promoting and enhancing local products, and strengthening business ties between producers and companies on the island."
The Fair is a "huge showcase of the primary sector, of our identity, our traditions, and what it means to live in rural areas and keep the region alive; it's Gran Canaria's great food fair, a unique reference point for our island, where we can showcase the excellence of our local produce and our gastronomy," stated the president, who expressed his conviction that the 12th edition will surpass the visitor numbers of previous editions.
Jordi Cruz, Michelin-starred chef
One of the highlights of this edition will be the presence of renowned Michelin-starred chef Jordi Cruz. Known for his work at the helm of restaurants such as ABaC (Barcelona) and for his popularity as a judge on the television show "Master Chef," the Catalan professional will showcase his culinary expertise in a presentation titled "Jordi Cruz, Direct to the Palate." His visit underscores the fair's long-standing prestige and its ability to attract leading figures from the national and international culinary scene.
With the aim of highlighting the traditions of the primary sector, local produce, and industrial agri-food processing as a driving force for the economy, the Fair will also feature a program packed with activities, workshops, and tastings for all audiences. The heart of the event will be the extensive exhibition area, where 95 local companies, producers, and organizations will offer direct sales of a variety of local products. Visitors can purchase olive oils, olives, wines, cheeses, and honey, as well as gofio, fresh fruits, vegetables, coffee, traditional breads and pastries, sea salts, craft beers, juices, jams, ice cream, and aloe vera products, among many other local products.
The presence of the Canary Islands Industrial Association (Asinca) will also highlight the crucial role of the local agri-food industry in the island's economic development. A highlight will also be the awards ceremony for the 19th Official Gran Canaria Honey Competition, recognizing the excellence of this emblematic product.
On the other hand, the gastronomic richness of Gran Canaria, which combines culinary heritage with avant-garde cuisine, will be the focus of an intense program of culinary exhibitions taking place throughout the weekend in Pavilion 5 of Infecar. Renowned chefs and industry professionals will share their techniques and creative fusions live, always seeking to inspire and educate the public about the possibilities of local produce.
In Pavilion 7, the primary sector will have its own space to showcase local produce and develop an extensive program of guided tastings, tasting menus... more than 60 activities that reinforce the identity, quality and diversity of local products, with the collaboration of associations, cooperatives and other entities in the sector. The aim is "to pay tribute to the island's agri-food producers and the sector in general, but also to highlight its importance in continuing to grow and supply the population," said the Minister for the Primary Sector, Food Sovereignty and Water Security, Miguel Hidalgo, who recalled that there are two million inhabitants in the Canary Islands, "potential consumers, who contribute to the maintenance of the sector."
The fair will also pay special attention to future generations through specific workshops promoted and organized by the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Gran Canaria Economic Promotion Society (SPEGC). Guest chef Valentina Salazar, winner of MasterChef Junior 11, along with Canarian chef Alejandro de la Nuez, will lead cooking workshops for children ages 6 to 12, culminating in a fun blind tasting of blended fruits. Additionally, younger children (6 to 10 years old) will be able to participate in "Fruit Art" workshops, sponsored by SPAR Gran Canaria, focusing on healthy eating and creativity with fruit.
As a new feature this year, the fair will host the first Gran Canaria Me Gusta Employment and Gastronomy Meeting, organized in collaboration with the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, Infecar, and the Innova Gastrocan Cluster. This event, scheduled for Friday morning, will feature a roundtable discussion with prominent figures such as chef José Luis Espino, sommelier Alba Bernal, and chef Manuel Vilariño. It will "allow students to see the real world of work and employers to identify and participate in the training of future professionals," according to the Regional Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts, Minerva Alonso.
The Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair will be held from May 9th to 11th at Infecar, the Gran Canaria Fairgrounds. In addition to the food and primary sector exhibits, visitors will be able to discover, taste, and purchase a wide variety of island products throughout the weekend, from cheeses and wines to honey, oils, fruits, vegetables, gofio, fish products, and traditional pastries, directly from the producers.
Tickets to the fair are priced at €1,50 and can be purchased at the box office or on the event's official website (feriagrancanariamegusta.es), where all the latest information on the program, schedules, and activities is available.
The Fair is promoted and funded by the Gran Canaria Island Council and organized by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria. Cajasiete is an official partner, along with the Gran Canaria Me Gusta initiative and the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce. This 2025 edition is sponsored by SPAR Gran Canaria and Hiperdino, and Comercial Naranjo is the equipment sponsor.
