Maspalomas hosts the 54th National Podiatry Congress, which will be held on October 17 and 18 at the Expo Meloneras Conference Center. Organized by the General Council of Official Colleges of Podiatrists of Spain and the Official College of Podiatrists of the Canary Islands, this event is positioned as one of the most important for the podiatric community, bringing together national and international experts to address the main challenges facing the sector.

Under the motto "An Island of Knowledge," the Congress will not only showcase innovation in podiatry but also a forum for discussing topics of great interest, such as foot pathologies related to neurological diseases and fall prevention in the elderly. Over the course of two days, more than 30 prestigious speakers will share their knowledge and findings on the latest scientific and technological advances in the field.

A high-level international congress

The event will feature international experts such as Professor Angela Evans (Australia), Dr. Chris Nester (UK), and Dr. Kevin A. Kirby, Dr. Alan S. Banks, Dr. David G. Armstrong, Dr. Luke D. Cicchinelli, and Dr. Stephen L. Barrett (USA), who will address key topics such as foot biomechanics, advances in foot orthoses, and the latest innovations in podiatric surgery. Emerging areas such as the application of artificial intelligence in podiatric diagnosis and treatment will also be explored.

The choice of Gran Canaria as the venue for this congress is significant, as the island offers the perfect setting for combining science and tourism. Verónica Ruiz, president of the Official College of Podiatrists of the Canary Islands, emphasizes that "the choice of Gran Canaria as the venue allows us to combine science and knowledge in an exceptional environment for professional exchange." Furthermore, the congress underscores the need to incorporate podiatry professionals into the public health system, reinforcing the importance of podiatrists in global health.

This congress will not only be a key event for podiatry professionals, but also an excellent opportunity to continue positioning Maspalomas and the south of Gran Canaria as a center of scientific and professional knowledge. With the presence of thousands of professionals and a trade show featuring the latest innovations in the sector, the event will contribute to strengthening congress tourism on the island, a segment that continues to grow over the years.
