Neighborhood becomes the scene of "live evictions"

Neighborhood becomes the scene of "live evictions"

The actions of the "squatter mediation" companies in Vecindario have become a viral phenomenon on social media.

In 2011, the dystopian series "Black Mirror" premiered, described by its producers as "a hybrid of The Twilight Zone and Tales of the Unexpected that taps into the contemporary malaise about our modern world." The series' stories have become a contemporary cultural comparison for surreal events related to social media and its questionable use. Among these cases is the "live evictions" that have occurred in Vecindario in recent weeks.

To put this into context: a "conflict mediation company" is hired to evict a squatted building on Avenida de Canarias in Vecindario (an area with increasing insecurity); as is typical in these cases, tensions are high, with aggression, insults, property damage, and even vomiting due to the poor condition and unsanitary conditions of the building. After struggles and arguments, the squatter (who was supposedly renting rooms in the building) leaves with a backpack full of her belongings, under the watchful eyes of the "employees" of the "mediation company."

How is it possible to know all this? Easy, the "operation" has been shared on social media in the form of videos and posts by the company itself and its employees. EZ Property Solutions, which has a significant presence throughout the Canary Islands, was the company responsible for this "eviction," which has accumulated more than 200.000 views in just a few days.

In the videos you can see everything from the deplorable state of the building's garage, which had several substandard housing, to shouting arguments of “swindler” or “don’t hit me, bitch” and aggression by the alleged squatter who arrive at causing the cell phone of one of the "unsquatters" to end up smashed on the floor.

The building with six apartments and a garage, recovered just a few days ago according to a publication by one of the company's managersThe alleged squatter was renting apartments and rooms inside the squatted building, as well as in its dilapidated garage. The posts are accompanied by comments from users cheering, congratulating, and encouraging the "mediators."

This is not the first time this company has gained exposure on social media for its actions in Vecindario. EZ Property Solutions also participated in the eviction of Sara and José's home, two neighbors who, As we already published in Maspalomas24H, suffered a home invasion in Vecindario, and upon returning, they found the interior destroyed. The case had quite a repercussion, as the YouTube channel “This Could Go Wrong”" was responsible for supporting and following all the steps the couple took in the process of recovering the property.

A case that has continued to make headlines in recent weeks, as in one of the attempts to evict the home, the squatters threw bleach in the face of one of the mediators and even tore his testicles with a knife during a struggle with the squatters.
