This Saturday, May 10, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) will hold its 10nd Aula Fayna Noda Conference Series, a day of reflection and analysis on the challenges facing the municipality in terms of affordable housing, residential development, and vacation rentals. The event will take place from 30:13 a.m. to 30:XNUMX p.m. at the Island Tourism Center, located in the Yumbo Centrum Shopping Center (Playa del Inglés).

The meeting, which will bring together institutional representatives from the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) and citizen platforms, will be moderated by professional and political figures with the aim of discussing proposals and addressing public concerns at a time of heightened tensions between residential pressure and tourism activity in the Canary Islands.

A program featuring institutional and social voices will be structured into three thematic sections, addressing, respectively, institutional action in housing, the phenomenon of residentialization in tourist areas, and the situation of vacation rentals in the municipality. Speakers include Doris Borrego, president of ASCAV; Maribé Doreste, president of PALT; Gustavo Santana, member of the Canary Islands Parliament; Augusto Hidalgo, Councilor for Housing of the Gran Canaria Island Council; Carlos Álamo, Councilor for Tourism of the Gran Canaria Island Council; and Maribel Santana, former director of the Canary Islands Housing Institute.

The local general secretary of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) and one of the speakers, Carlos Álamo, emphasized that this initiative responds to a clear citizen demand: "We want to speak seriously about the municipal model we are building. San Bartolomé de Tirajana needs realistic solutions that allow the right to housing to coexist with tourism development. The PSOE is committed to opening spaces for dialogue like the Fayna Noda Classroom to listen and act responsibly."

Álamo also emphasized the importance of this series of conferences as a tool for generating political and social consensus around shared challenges: "The debate on housing and tourism is no longer technical; it's deeply political and human. It's an important debate that affects the quality of life of our citizens, such as the effects of the pressure exerted by vacation rentals and the transformation of tourist areas into residential spaces. We intend to address it with its stakeholders, as well as with the affected groups and platforms, with a public service spirit that we will share with anyone who wants to participate."

The entrance to the day will be free and without prior registration, with open speaking time in each section. The event is specifically aimed at residents, property owners, tourism industry professionals, and interested members of the public.

This space for debate and meeting, now in its second edition, is named after Fayna Noda, a member of the Local Executive and Youth of the Socialist Party in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, who died in the Spanair plane crash at Barajas Airport in 2008. She ran in the 2003 elections, being the youngest candidate on the electoral list at just 23 years old, and did so again in 2007, always occupying the seat corresponding to her town, Aldea Blanca.
