The Sánchez government confirmed this Wednesday that agricultural and livestock production in southern Gran Canaria will benefit from a reduction in the net return indices applicable in 2024, a measure approved by the government to mitigate the effects of exceptional circumstances. This fiscal adjustment seeks to ease the pressure on affected producers and improve the sustainability of their activities. In San Bartolomé de Tirajana, a key municipality in southern Gran Canaria, the affected crops include citrus fruits (0,05%), apricots (0,07%), almonds (0,05), and olive products (0,05). Likewise, wine grapes with a designation of origin (0,11) have seen their tax burden reduced, boosting wine production in the region.
Other municipalities, such as Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Mogán, and Ingenio, also benefit from similar adjustments in strategic crops such as olive products (0,05%) and wine grapes with a DO (0,11). In these municipalities, agricultural activity represents a fundamental economic pillar, particularly in the marketing of high-value products.
Annex I of Order HFP/1359/2023, of December 19, established the signs, indices, and modules applicable to agricultural, livestock, and forestry activities that determine net income under the objective estimation method of the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) and the simplified special regime of the IGIC. The new order revises these parameters, adapting them to the current reality of the sector. This tax reduction also extends to other municipalities in the archipelago with diversified agricultural activities, including adjustments to products such as potatoes (0,13), tubers, nuts, and wine grapes with a Designation of Origin (DO), essential to the rural economy of the Canary Islands.
