The constant influx of visitors to the exhibitors' stands confirms the growing interest of citizens in discovering the quality, variety and potential of local produce as a hallmark.

The Fair has not only recorded record attendance in its twelve editions, but also in exhibitors and municipalities: 110 companies, 2 artisans and 20 town councils

The Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair closed its doors today after attracting more than 15.000 people over the weekend, a figure that not only surpasses last year's attendance but also sets a record for the fair's history. With 110 companies, two artisans, and 2 municipalities, the fair also broke a record for exhibitors with space to showcase their products and crafts.

"The Fair was a resounding success, once again far exceeding last year's attendance figures," announced the Minister of Economic Development, Minerva Alonso, who reported "full houses at the Food Sovereignty workshops and the gastronomic exhibitions, but above all, the support from the public in purchasing local products from primary sector companies." "Once again, the citizens of Gran Canaria have shown absolute support for this eco-island project," the Minister added.

The Regional Minister for Primary Sector and Food Sovereignty, Miguel Hidalgo, also expressed his satisfaction "with the splendid turnout of the citizens who attended the various activities" and highlighted the role of the participating producers, "who have provided a truly important image of biodiversity around the world, both in the primary sector and in the world of gastronomy, which is giving a tremendous boost to local products."

The event has thus established itself as a perfect space for meeting, learning, and discovering the vast array of products that make up Gran Canaria's pantry, where recipes and experiences linked to the primary sector and local gastronomy have been shared.

Queues for activities and a packed pavilion to see Jordi Cruz

Over the three days, the fairgrounds were imbued with a festive, family-oriented atmosphere, attracting thousands of people eager to discover the quality, variety, and potential of local produce as a hallmark of identity, but also as a source of economic development. The constant flow of visitors to the exhibitors' stands reaffirms the growing interest among island residents in learning about and consuming local products and, therefore, their commitment to the island's primary sector.

This interest was also evident in the long lines and the "full capacity" of the organized activities: tastings, samplings, and gastronomic exhibitions, such as that of Michelin-starred chef Jordi Cruz, who cooked three recipes based on "great island products." "It was difficult because there are so many," said the Catalan chef, who during his stay on the island was able to "get to know the local products in order to understand them and then apply them." "I was able to discover an island that is alive, that wants to do many things, that is eager to be there and demonstrate its capabilities, products, and more," he stated.

Regarding the fair itself, he described it as "a party, a family gathering, a showcase of products and small producers, of families and customers who want to see, try, and discover." "I'm leaving nourished, stimulated, having learned things," said the chef, who believes that "any cooking convention should be like a good television show: it should be able to entertain and educate, both, because one without the other doesn't make it easy to digest, and here it's been a lot of fun."

The involvement of citizens, on the one hand, and the primary sector and gastronomy professionals, on the other, consolidate the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair as a key benchmark in promoting local products and gastronomy as a cultural and economic asset. In this sense, the fair not only contributes to strengthening the bond between producers and consumers, thus promoting local products; it also encourages the preservation of traditions through the flavors of the land.

Promoted and funded by the Gran Canaria Island Council and organized by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria, the Fair has Cajasiete as an official partner and the collaboration of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta initiative and the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce. This 2025 edition has SPAR Gran Canaria and Hiperdino as sponsors, and Comercial Naranjo as the equipment sponsor.
