The events occurred in the middle of a public street after the victim tried to reprimand her attacker's behavior.
At the end of April, the Vecindario Civil Guard received a complaint from a citizen who reported being attacked by an unknown individual while driving his vehicle on a local street.
According to the complaint, the incident began when the victim made a legal stop at a traffic stop and observed how an individual, for no apparent reason, began kicking his car. When he got out of his vehicle to reprimand the victim and demand an explanation for his behavior, the individual immediately fled the scene.
However, within seconds, as he was approaching his vehicle, the victim noticed this person approaching again and lunging at him wielding a knife, inflicting a considerable cut on his left hand as he tried to repel the attack.
The victim was immediately taken to the island hospital, where he underwent surgery due to the severity of his injuries. Once the Vecindario Main Post was informed of the incident, an investigation was launched to identify the attacker.
Various testimonies collected by the officers matched the facts described by the complainant, which allowed the investigation to progress. Once the perpetrator was identified, a comprehensive search operation was organized, which culminated in the arrest of the individual as the alleged perpetrator of aggravated bodily harm, based on the outcome and the means used.
The proceedings and the detainee were placed at the disposal of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Court of Instruction, which was on duty. The judicial authority ordered his imprisonment.
