SPAR Gran Canaria continues to support sport as a tool for social integration and collective well-being with the renewal, for the third consecutive year, of its sponsorship of the inclusive Club Interisleta Fútbol Sala team, made up of 26 players with intellectual disabilities.
This agreement consolidates SPAR's support for an initiative that not only promotes sports among these groups, but also fosters values such as respect, equal opportunities, and true inclusion.
Among the activities planned for the 2025-2026 season are mobile training sessions at educational centers on the island and the organization of the fourth edition of the Isleta Cup, which will take place at the end of the year. In addition, the club participated in the Spanish Adapted Indoor Soccer Championship in February, representing two national teams.
“Sport is a great tool for continuing to build an increasingly inclusive future, and at SPAR Gran Canaria, we want to continue being an active part of that process,” said Dunia Pérez, who also expressed her gratitude for the club's commitment to “a project that transforms lives through physical activity.”
The sponsorship has allowed the club to expand its sports offering, incorporating new disciplines this year, such as basketball, which the team will compete in this Thursday at the Spanish Championship. In addition, other eight-a-side football and petanque teams have also joined the competition.
For one of the team's coaches, Darío Santana, "SPAR Gran Canaria's support is essential for developing activities and achieving the milestone of participating in two Spanish championships in the same year, something historic for us."
This collaboration is part of the chain's social responsibility strategy, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With this sponsorship, SPAR Gran Canaria strengthens its contribution to SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 10 (reducing inequalities), and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals).
