The accident occurred this morning on the GC-604 highway, when a tanker truck overturned while traveling to the village of Cercados de Araña. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated by emergency services.
On Friday, May 23, 2025, at 07:15 a.m., a tanker truck overturned on the GC-604 highway, which connects to the town of Cercados de Araña, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The vehicle, which was transporting water for distribution in that town, suffered the accident for reasons that are being investigated.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was first treated by an ambulance from the nearby Salto de Chira-Soria construction site. Shortly after, a unit from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) arrived to provide additional medical care at the scene.
The Civil Guard Traffic Police were dispatched to the scene of the accident and took charge of the corresponding report. No other injuries or prolonged traffic disruptions were reported, although traffic control measures were implemented while the overturned truck was removed.
On the same GC-604 highway, where the tanker truck overturned this morning, a tragic incident already occurred on March 30, 2004, when a bus suffered a serious accident that required the intervention of a SUC medical helicopter.
