The Guiniguada Viaduct tests complicate access to the Quevedo concert for fans coming from the south of Gran Canaria.

The Guiniguada endurance test will block one of the main access roads to the Gran Canaria Stadium on the day of the Quevedo concert, and drivers are already fearing the resulting traffic jams.

The Gran Canaria Island Council has made (once again) one of those decisions that are difficult to understand. After spending over €200.000 to promote Quevedo's concert to capitalize on the artist's huge popularity and use his exposure to promote the island, one of the main access routes to the Gran Canaria Stadium, the venue where the concert will be held this Saturday, has been blocked since Friday.

The closure of the Guiniguada Viaduct, the main access route to the stadium from the south of the island, is part of load tests on the infrastructure. 30 trucks carrying 990 tons of cargo will test its strength.

In a post on his social media, the vice president of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Augusto Hidalgo, explained the detours and options that drivers will have in the face of these cuts.

In that same post, many users expressed their disbelief at the Cabildo's poor organizational capacity in organizing these tests on the very same day that one of the island's biggest events of the year is being held just a few kilometers away.

For all Quevedo fans attending the concert from the south of Gran Canaria, the road closure will be at the Barranco Seco interchange and the detour will be via the GC-31 (San José tunnels).

Given these detours and the expected crowds at the concert, it is recommended to leave earlier than usual to avoid the seemingly inevitable traffic jams that will likely affect traffic on the GC-1 at the junction with the GC-3, thus complicating entry into the capital from the south for much of Saturday.
