The City Council plenary session approved five budget modifications to increase expenditure items without sufficient resources, such as the one allocated to the fee that the City Council must pay for the municipality's discharges in the Juan Grande Environmental Complex and its price increase, which amounts to €1.150.000.
The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has approved a €4,3 million funding injection to bolster underfunded municipal budget items. The five budget amendments, financed from the Treasury's net surplus of over €199 million, were approved by the municipal plenary session in its regular session on Thursday, May 29, with a favorable report from the Comptroller's Office. This reinforcement will cover expenses such as the fee for wastewater discharges at the Juan Grande Environmental Complex, late-payment interest, and compensation for urban expropriations.
The modifications also include significant investments in services and public works, such as paving in Playa del Inglés, the rehabilitation of the Castillo del Romeral promenade, road improvements on several roads in the municipality, and technical assistance for safety, health, and maintenance projects. In addition, key areas such as Culture, Youth, Equality, and Sports will be strengthened, receiving funding for club and event grants, as well as for the promotion of competitions such as the Transgrancanaria, the Pilancones Trail, and the Maspalomas Cup.
During the same plenary session, the dates for the 2026 Maspalomas International Carnival were approved, which will be held from March 10 to 22, allowing for its promotion at key tourism fairs. Likewise, the technical staff responsible for overseeing various municipal contracts were appointed, including cleaning services, communications, and technical assistance linked to European funds. These decisions seek to ensure greater control, foresight, and efficiency in the City Council's financial and administrative management.
