Siam Park is drowning in its own wave: it is ranked among the most disappointing destinations on the planet, while those in the south of Gran Canaria are still waiting for theirs.

 

Siam Park in Tenerife, hailed for years as the best water park in the world, has plummeted in the global tourism reputation rankings. According to a study by Radical Storage , based on more than 95.000 traveler reviews, the park ranks as the third most disappointing attraction on the planet, with 31,2% negative reviews.

 

The most frequent complaints point to a lack of attention from staff and serious accessibility issues. Visitors with reduced mobility and overweight individuals have reported feeling embarrassed and mistreated during their stay at the park. Furthermore, there are accounts from customers who, after paying for premium services such as private villas, found them unavailable and received no refund.

 

The cleanliness of the park and the hygiene of the water are also points of criticism for users (the vast majority of whom are British) who express their opinions about the facility on one of the best-known online review sites. One user even reported the presence of fecal matter in several areas of the park.

 

This reputational setback comes at a critical time for Siam Park's sister project in southern Gran Canaria. The planned water park in El Veril, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, has been facing legal, environmental, and administrative hurdles for years. Despite promises, the First Deputy Mayor, Alejandro Marichal, has admitted that, in the best-case scenario, construction will not begin for at least two years, even if the legal quagmire is resolved.

 

Furthermore, the project has generated concern among officials and environmental groups due to its location in a ravine with a significant watercourse near the coast, especially after the devastating storm in Valencia . The lack of technical reports guaranteeing hydraulic safety has led many technicians to refuse to sign off on permits , fearing future liabilities.
