Carlos Álamo takes over as General Secretary of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) in San Bartolomé de Tirajana to lead a new phase.

 

The Socialist Party of San Bartolomé de Tirajana held an Extraordinary Assembly this Friday, June 6, at the Faro 2 Shopping Center. The municipality's members voted to form a new Executive Committee and unanimously supported Carlos Álamo, current Tourism Councilor for the Gran Canaria Island Council, as the new Secretary General, with 100% of the votes cast. Furthermore, the management of the outgoing Executive Committee was also unanimously approved. 

 

Thus, the organizational chart of the Municipal Executive of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, with Pilar Grande Pesquero as president, is as follows: Carlos Álamo Cabrera, Secretary General; Gustavo Santana Martel, Secretary of Organization; Antonio Pérez Socorro, Deputy Secretary General; María Concepción Narváez Vega, Municipal Political Secretary; Jorge Cornejo Jiménez, Secretary of Training and Democratic Memory; Nerea Lilen Maschio Briz, Secretary of Administration; Raquel Romano López, Secretary of Transportation; Braulio Zerpa Ravelo, Secretary of Communication and Social Media; Amira Oulad Said Baghdadi, Secretary of Cooperation and Immigration; Daniel Bazán Lorenzo, Secretary of Social Affairs and the Fight against Poverty; and Jezabel Milagros Santana Martel, Secretary of Entrepreneurship, SMEs, and Participation.

 

Meanwhile, the representatives on the Island Committee will be Gustavo González Trujillo, Noelia Santana Martel, Bartolomé Acosta Tejera, and Alejandra Belén Castro Berrutti, who will join those elected in the previous organizational processes. The alternates will be Victor Acosta Hernández and Nuria Martín Santana.

 

 

 

 

Carlos Álamo expressed his gratitude for the outgoing Executive Committee's management, acknowledging its efforts and dedication during a period "marked by the electoral process, where I believe the group has lived up to expectations," he noted. In his presentation, before a packed auditorium, he praised the stature and capabilities of the team presented, highlighting the opportunity to represent the municipality in various party bodies, as well as in the Canary Islands Parliament and other administrations, with "figures with outstanding experience." He also prioritized, "more than ever before," commitment and direct communication with residents and their real problems. "All of this with the goal of providing this municipality with a better government, one in which residents have their own voice and one that is more engaged with real issues." 

 

“Our group is well-organized; we have colleagues in the various party bodies. We have them on the Regional Executive Committee and no less than three representatives on the Island Executive Committee. We also have them on the party's Ethics Committee, on the various committees of the regional and island executive committees, and, of course, in the municipal group, with Conchi at the helm, doing her job well. Now, after this call, we will be joining professional and political profiles from whom I expect not only dedication and responsibility, but also to give voice and party identity to the issues that members and activists bring to our attention,” stated the Secretary General of the San Bartolomé Socialists, before noting that “what is clear to us is that this Executive Committee must become an element at the service of the society of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.” 

 

Álamo urged members and officials to embrace caring and humaneness in the performance of their duties, through direct contact, and through "socialist sensitivity and the commitment to work for everyone, never leaving anyone behind."

 

"There will be many problems that will be presented to us, that's for sure, but we must make these issues our vision and they will mark our agenda, with fundamental priorities and values, such as decent housing within the reach of the working class, such as our proposal to provide this municipality with decent public infrastructure, as well as the moral obligation to care for those residents of SBT who don't even have enough to eat, or to be able to raise our voices if we see that people who come from outside are not given an outlet or a basic opportunity so that tomorrow they can contribute to our society." 

 

Finally, Álamo concluded his speech by setting a challenge for the upcoming election. "Together, we will be able to inspire the voters of our municipality once again. Together, we will be prepared to give this municipality a much better government than the one it currently has."
