170 Food Bank volunteers join SPAR Gran Canaria's ongoing social commitment.
SPAR Gran Canaria has once again participated in the "Spring Harvest" charity campaign, an initiative whose main objective is to support the Las Palmas Food Bank in its work assisting families and groups in vulnerable situations.
Thanks to the chain's social commitment and the active involvement of its customers, the campaign was carried out with great success in the island's establishments, achieving a total collection of 21.581 kilos of products.
Since its inception, the Las Palmas Down Syndrome Association has collaborated closely with SPAR stores during this campaign. This collaboration is realized through the voluntary participation of its members, who enthusiastically and committedly participate in the organized activities. Their help is invaluable, not only for the logistical support they provide, but also for the warmth and joy they bring to each event.
These volunteers not only provided information and organized donations, but also created spaces for solidarity and civic participation, helping to raise awareness about the importance of helping the island's most needy families.
In the words of the chain's president, Ángel Medina, "solidarity isn't a one-time thing, but rather a value that is part of SPAR Gran Canaria's daily operations, and is reflected in concrete actions like this collection." He also highlighted the ongoing collaboration with the Food Bank, which allows us to serve thousands of families going through difficult times.
The delivery of the merchandise took place at the Central Purchasing Department of Canary Islands Supermarkets (Cencosu) and was presided over by Ángel Medina and Vice President José López, who handed the materials over to Pedro Llorca, President of the Las Palmas Food Bank. The products, distributed in 20 pallets and 49 roll containers, will be allocated to families and groups in vulnerable situations.
Among the donated items are basic foodstuffs such as oil, milk, canned goods, legumes, rice, pasta, coffee, cocoa, and water, which will help cover the essential needs of many Food Bank users.
This charitable initiative is part of SPAR Gran Canaria's corporate social responsibility policy and strengthens a collaboration with the Food Bank that has existed for more than 25 years.
