Innovation and medical excellence were the focus of attention this June at San Roque University Hospitals (HUSR) in Maspalomas, during the Gran Canaria Business Circle's institutional visit to the center's facilities. The event, conceived as a day of immersion in the technological advances that are redefining the healthcare sector, was chaired by Mario Rodríguez Rodríguez, president of the HUSR group, and vice president Herminia Rodríguez Rosas, hosts of the business delegation.
The day began with a working session in which the General Manager of San Roque University Hospitals, Sebastián Sansó Marrero, gave a strategic presentation on the group's positioning in the national and international healthcare context. During his presentation, Sansó contextualized the current and future challenges facing private medicine, highlighting the group's commitment to innovation, high complexity, and professional talent.
After the session, the Circle members toured the hospital facilities, guided by the management team. One of the highlights was the live demonstration of the Hugo RAS surgical system, the state-of-the-art robot incorporated by the HUSR Robotic Surgery Unit. This technology, which enables minimally invasive procedures with maximum precision, represents one of the major milestones in the digital transformation of contemporary medicine.
The interest generated by the use of robotics, artificial intelligence, and big data in clinical settings was no coincidence: San Roque University Hospitals is among the 50 best private hospitals in Spain, according to the Healthcare Reputation Monitor (MRS) 2024, and has been included in the prestigious World's Best Hospitals 2024 – Spain ranking, compiled by Newsweek magazine. These awards consolidate its role as a national benchmark in advanced healthcare.
The visit was, in the words of several attendees, "a direct window into the medicine of tomorrow," and highlighted the importance of building bridges between the business community and the healthcare ecosystem to foster an economy based on innovation, well-being, and excellence. Maspalomas, once again, reaffirms its position as a center of attraction not only for tourism but also in the field of cutting-edge healthcare.
