The project involved an investment of 615.081 euros and transformed the landscape from a steep stretch into a beachfront location.

The project strengthens the safety, accessibility, and sustainability of the environment, contributing to the revitalization of Gran Canaria's southern coast.

The Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, an entity formed by the Gran Canaria Island Council and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council, has inaugurated the new Tobogán-Playa viewpoint, an infrastructure that is part of the landscaping project for the hillside surrounding Playa del Inglés.

The project is part of the municipality's comprehensive plan to improve the coastal public spaces, with the aim of revitalizing the urban and natural environment of one of the most emblematic areas of the southern coast. The contract was subject to a technical modification, increasing its final cost to €615.081. This has allowed for the incorporation of safety and accessibility features that reinforce the infrastructure's sustainable nature. These include protective railings, lifelines for maintenance work, marker posts in high-risk areas, and landscaping with plants adapted to the environment.

During the presentation of the viewpoint, which was attended by Marco Aurelio Pérez, president of the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium; Antonio Morales, vice president of the Consortium; and members Alejandro Marichal and Margarita Cubas, they all emphasized the importance of this project as a commitment to sustainability, accessibility, and the enhancement of coastal public space.

The project, carried out on a section of hillside with a 5,9% gradient and highly complex technical features, has completely transformed the landscape, providing the promenade with a new vantage point with privileged views of the coastal surroundings. The renovation has improved both the functionality and the image of the site, reinforcing its integration with the beach environment and consolidating the area's tourist appeal.

The project included the planting of more than 400 plants belonging to twenty different species, which promotes the sustainable conservation of the space. In addition, more than a dozen lighting fixtures equipped with highly energy-efficient LED technology have been installed, allowing the viewpoint to be enjoyed at night without disturbing the environmental balance of the surrounding area.

Marco Aurelio Pérez, president of the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, stated that "we have achieved an important goal: rehabilitating an area in Playa del Inglés that had been abandoned for a very long time." He also emphasized that "what was once a run-down area has now been transformed into a wonderful viewpoint overlooking the Maspalomas Dunes and Playa del Inglés."

For his part, Antonio Morales, vice president of the administrative entity, elaborated on the need for this action, as "this space, in particular, was a severely degraded area, whose restoration had long been demanded by the public. Today we can say that it has been achieved, that it has been restored for public use, improving its image for both residents of Gran Canaria and those who visit us from outside."
