The Canary Islands Government has issued a pre-alert alert for several islands, particularly areas such as Santa Lucía, Agüimes, Ingenio, and Telde. AEMET (Spanish Meteorological Agency) forecasts very strong wind gusts and strong waves starting at noon on Saturday, June 21.

The Canary Islands Government, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, has declared a pre-alert for winds across the archipelago starting at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 21, after analyzing data from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). In the case of Gran Canaria, the pre-alert particularly affects the coast and lower mid-mountains in the south and southeast of the island, including the municipalities of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Agüimes, Ingenio, and Telde, where northeasterly wind gusts of between 60 and 80 km/h are expected.

In addition, the regional government has also issued a pre-alert for coastal phenomena for the same day and time, affecting the same areas in southeastern Gran Canaria. According to the AEMET (Spanish Meteorological Agency), northeasterly winds with force 6 and in some areas with force 7 (up to 61 km/h) are expected, accompanied by strong swells along the coast and northwesterly and southwesterly swells with waves up to 2 meters, increasing the risk in coastal areas.

These measures are part of the Canary Islands' Specific Emergency Plan for the Risk of Adverse Meteorological Events (PEFMA) and aim to anticipate potential incidents. Authorities recommend extreme caution, especially in the southern and southeastern municipalities of Gran Canaria, given the expected wind and wave conditions that could affect coastal safety, traffic, and outdoor activities.
