San Bartolomé de Tirajana hosts a new edition of the Rotary Club Maspalomas summer program with 23 young people from 13 countries and presentations on tourism and artificial intelligence.
Today the XI CAMP International Rotary Maspalomas, summer program organized by Rotary Club Maspalomas which brings together 23 young people from up to 13 different countries, such as Taiwan, Türkiye, Finland, Germany, France, or the Czech Republic to live together until July 7th in the south of the island with all kinds of activities.

The inauguration, which took place in the County House of San Fernando de Maspalomas, has had the presence of Marco Aurelio Pérez, mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, accompanied by the second deputy mayor, Elena Alamo and the Councilor for Culture Esther Delgado, Álvaro Martínez Villalobos, director of the Canary Islands Space Center, William Morales, director of the Maspalomas Summer University, Josemanuel González, Governor of District 2201 Rotary International and Daniel Bazan, responsible for the XI Rotary Maspalomas International CAMP.
Marco Aurelio Pérez He emphasized that eleven editions of CAMP "represent many people involved, speakers and participants who have raised the bar ever higher." The mayor recalled that Maspalomas is "a City of Peace, where people of more than 120 nationalities live together, and tourism has greatly contributed to the growth of culture, coexistence, and respect for diverse values."

Josemanuel González He emphasized that this CAMP is "a space for meeting and learning for young people whose lives will be marked by maturity and experience, a seed of hope." Specifically, the person in charge of the CAMP, Daniel Bazan, summarized this program as “youth, peace and shared ideas.”
Under the slogan "Tourism and Technology, as a driving force for promoting peace, cultural understanding, and sustainable development in communities," the program's objective is to raise awareness among children about the current situation and how they can contribute to peace, cooperation, and solidarity.
Artificial Intelligence and Tourism: Keynote Speeches
Javier Vega In his presentation, he outlined the pros and cons of tourism and the need to implement sustainable and respectful tourism measures. Vega highlighted the "incredible potential of tourism to contribute to peace, introduce us to different cultures and traditions, foster mutual respect, and promote local economies and sustainable development."

And while robotization and automation "may be scary," I assure you it will give you the opportunity to reinvent yourselves, and can even be used to achieve peace and a more just society. "AI can help optimize resources, anticipate natural disasters, or prevent conflicts."
