Red Eléctrica and SBT promote energy efficiency in senior centers

MASPALOMAS24H Thursday, July 03, 2025

The agreement between the City Council and the Redeia subsidiary will improve the electrical installations and air conditioning of the Tunte, Cercados de Espino, and El Pajar senior citizen social and cultural centers.

Red Eléctrica, the Redeia subsidiary responsible for transmission and operation of the electrical system in Spain, will collaborate with the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council to improve and renovate the electrical installations and air conditioning systems at the Tunte, Cercados de Espino, and El Pajar senior citizen social and cultural centers.

To this end, Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez and Redeia's representative in the Canary Islands, Ainara Irigoyen, signed a collaboration agreement this Thursday that will contribute €35.000 to the municipal project to improve the three community centers' energy efficiency.

The agreement was signed in the presence of the Councilor for Social Services, Social Action, and Senior Citizens, Dimas Sarmiento Navarro, and the Corporation's Secretary General.

The Redeia representative emphasized that the agreement is in line with the principles that govern the company's sustainability policy and Red Eléctrica's commitment to San Bartolomé de Tirajana, where it is building the Salto de Chira pumped-storage hydroelectric plant.

The collaboration with the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council is part of Redeia's so-called "Comprehensive Impact Strategy," which promotes environmental and social initiatives with a positive impact on the region and generates shared value with the stakeholders where it deploys its infrastructure. In the last year and a half, Redeia has launched more than 200 initiatives throughout Spain and in the Latin American countries where it operates.

In Gran Canaria, Red Eléctrica is building the Salto de Chira pumped storage hydroelectric plant, which will serve the system's operation to strengthen supply security and increase the integration of renewable energy on the island.
