Through the initiative promoted by the “la Caixa” Foundation and CaixaBank, the supermarket chain contributes to ensuring that families in vulnerable situations have basic food.

Gran Canaria is once again participating in the "No Home Without Food" campaign, promoted by the "la Caixa" Foundation and CaixaBank to help families struggling to meet their basic food needs.

In this edition, the supermarket chain has donated 1.400 one-liter cartons of SPAR whole milk and 600 one-kilo cartons of Yugui Millo gofio to the Las Palmas Food Bank, a campaign partner.

During the event, CaixaBank's Director of Corporate Banking, José María Herrero; CaixaBank's Head of Social Action in the Canary Islands, Olga del Pino López; and the President of the Food Bank, Pedro Llorca, received the donation from the President of SPAR Gran Canaria, Ángel Medina; the chain's General Manager, Dunia Pérez; and the Director of Administration and Finance at SPAR Gran Canaria, José Isaías Medina.

In the words of the president of SPAR Gran Canaria, "This charitable initiative reflects the ongoing work our organization does with Canarian families. Seeing how each donation transforms into hope for those most in need moves us deeply."

“Donations to our organization are a fundamental pillar of our work. Aside from the economic value, they have a direct impact on our mission, reflecting the commitment of companies that care not only for their profits but also for the well-being of the community in which they operate,” said Pedro Llorca, who also thanked SPAR Gran Canaria for its work as one of the association's major donors.

Last year, this campaign raised more than €1,7 million, equivalent to approximately 1.578 tons of essential food. These funds were collected at locations throughout Spain through food banks associated with Fesbal and their collaborating organizations.

Through this initiative, SPAR Gran Canaria demonstrates its commitment to the well-being and support of vulnerable families, as well as its contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. Specifically, through this donation, it seeks to contribute to SDG 2, "Zero Hunger," which seeks to mitigate hunger, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
