The fire broke out at the La Jaca Social Club, located at Avenida del Muelle number 13. High temperatures complicated the response of the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium.
A fire broke out yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, July 17, at a restaurant in the municipality of Mogán, requiring rapid response from firefighters from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium. The fire originated at the La Jaca Social Club, located at 13 Avenida del Muelle in Arguineguín, and activated units based in Puerto Rico around 16:00 p.m.
Two firefighting units, each with a crew of five officers and a corporal, were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the firefighters encountered a dense column of black smoke that obscured visibility. After entering the restaurant, they were able to locate the main source of the fire and quickly extinguish it, preventing it from spreading.
Once the flames were extinguished, crews performed positive pressure ventilation to remove the accumulated smoke. The thermal conditions inside the establishment, exacerbated by the heat wave, posed an additional challenge to the response, on a day marked by high temperatures in the southern part of Gran Canaria.
