The police investigation began after the discovery of the body of a man on a public road last Tuesday, who had several stab wounds.
The motive for the crime could have been an argument between the victim and the arrested man at the latter's workplace.
National Police officers from the Local Judicial Police Brigade of the Maspalomas Police Station have arrested a resident of the town of San Fernando de Maspalomas as the alleged perpetrator of a murder that occurred last night, Monday the 14th.
The body, a 29-year-old man who had been spending the night on the street in various parts of the municipality, was found the following day next to the stairs that connect the Costa Canaria promenade with the parking lot of the Playa del Inglés annexes, by an employee of a nearby business, who notified the Emergency and Security Coordination Center at 112.
After analyzing the scene, officers found clear evidence of a violent death, so they activated a police operation to locate and arrest the perpetrator(s).
After an exhaustive investigation, officers were able to locate and arrest the alleged perpetrator in less than 48 hours. Hours before the attack, he had had an argument with the victim at her workplace, which could have been the motive for the crime.
Investigators subsequently conducted a search of the detainee's home, where they seized items relevant to the investigation.
Today, once the police investigation is completed, the detainee will be handed over to the competent judicial authority.
