Gran Canaria Airport (LPA), located on the land of the Gran Canaria Island Council, has seen a significant shift in the origin of its international passengers during June 2025, with Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) positioning itself as the main outbound airport in continental Europe and surpassing key competitors.

In June, Amsterdam Schiphol recorded a remarkable volume of 14.070 passengers to Gran Canaria. This figure not only represents an impressive 22,34% increase compared to the same month last year, but also allows it to take the lead over two traditionally strong markets.

Manchester Airport (MAN), which in June 2024 had surpassed Amsterdam with 14.220 passengers, has seen a decline, registering 13.331 passengers and a drop of 6,25%. Frankfurt am Main (FRA), meanwhile, despite positive growth of 12,39% to 12.853 passengers, is now below the Dutch connection.

This shift underscores the dynamism of the Dutch market toward Gran Canaria and could indicate a reconfiguration of European traveler preferences. While traffic from the United Kingdom shows signs of contraction on key routes, German airports, and especially the Dutch one, are driving tourist arrivals to the island. Schiphol's strong growth suggests increased demand or increased capacity on routes from the Netherlands, consolidating its role as a crucial hub for winter and summer tourism in the archipelago.
