The island of Gran Canaria recorded a significant increase in the arrival of foreign passengers during June 2025, reaching a total of 256.660 travelers, representing a 6,96% increase compared to the same month last year. In the year-to-date figure, the island welcomed 2.075.599 international passengers, representing a 4,44% increase compared to 2024.
Portugal and Morocco recorded significant growth in June, with increases of 22,59% and 21,15% respectively. Poland also contributed to the growth, with a monthly increase of 8,63% and a solid 14,75% year-on-year. The "Other countries" segment stood out with an increase of 69,66% in June and a cumulative increase of 38,96%, indicating a diversification in visitor origins.
The United Kingdom remains the leading source market, with 90.913 passengers in June, registering a 2,90% monthly increase and a 1,30% cumulative increase. Germany follows closely behind, consolidating its position as the second largest market with 51.910 arrivals in June (+5,79%) and a robust cumulative growth of 9,93%, surpassing half a million passengers so far this year.
Italy experienced the most significant percentage growth in June, with a 38,19% increase to 11.557 passengers, boosting its year-to-date total by 31,50%. The Netherlands also showed notable strength, with a 10,17% monthly increase (21.436 passengers) and a 6,43% cumulative increase.
In the Nordic countries, the situation varies. While Norway maintains stable growth (0,91% monthly, 3,54% cumulative), Denmark experiences a slight monthly contraction of 2,48%, although its cumulative growth remains positive (+5,60%). Sweden shows a strong rebound in June (+35,98%), but its annual cumulative growth registers a decline of 10,10%. Finland and Luxembourg also close the annual cumulative growth with declines of 5,44% and 11,92% respectively.
On the other hand, markets such as Ireland (-4,86% monthly, -3,96% cumulative), France (-2,30% monthly, -10,87% cumulative), Belgium (-6,20% monthly, although +1,32% cumulative) and Switzerland (-4,33% cumulative) show contractions, which suggests an adjustment or reorientation of traveler flows from these nations.
The June 2025 and year-over-year data reflect widespread growth in foreign tourism in Gran Canaria, driven primarily by the strength of markets such as Germany and the UK, and the significant expansion of countries in Southern Europe and other regions, offsetting fluctuations or declines in other traditional source markets.
