The technology accelerator Gravitad has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), through the SIANI-iROC research group, to strengthen the development of artificial intelligence-based solutions with a practical and rigorous approach. The alliance seeks to build a solid bridge between academic knowledge and business applications, reaffirming the company's commitment to building purposeful technology with a vocation for real market impact.

The agreement, formalized through the Canary Islands Foundation for the ULPGC's Science and Technology Park (FCPCT), establishes a technical advisory framework. The iROC team, specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Computational Oceanography, will offer its expertise to the projects promoted by Gravitad. This support will include everything from algorithm design and feasibility analysis to methodological selection and regulatory compliance for technological solutions.

Francisco Carballo, CEO of Gravitad, emphasized the importance of this synergy. “Artificial intelligence is not an end, but a tool for building useful, efficient, and transparent solutions. This alliance with the ULPGC allows us to integrate top-level knowledge into every phase of our development and maintain an ethical and applied approach in all cases,” he stated. Carballo also highlighted public-private cooperation as the main driver of innovation in the region.

The iROC research group, for its part, will focus on technical analysis and strategic guidance, being expressly excluded from the practical development of solutions. With this model, the ULPGC, through the FCPCT and its Knowledge Transfer Office (OTC), reinforces its objective of being a catalyst connecting academic research with the islands' productive sector.

Founded in 2019, Gravitad has cemented its position as a key player in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, having supported more than 70 technology startups in sectors as diverse as agriculture, healthcare, tourism, blockchain, and tokenization. With a decentralized structure that allows it to operate with 200 engineers in six countries, the company seeks to attract talent and investment without borders. This agreement with the ULPGC is a firm step in its strategy of articulating a solid network of scientific alliances to position the Canary Islands as an international benchmark in technological innovation.
