The security guard war at Atlantisegur reaches the hotels: a battle for time by the USO union in the Canary Islands.

There are wars fought in the silence of offices and in the solitude of the night. There are no tanks, no artillery. Only schedules, shifts, and faith in a collective bargaining agreement. The Federation of Private Security Workers of USO in the Canary Islands (FTSP-USO CANARIAS) has filed a complaint against ATLANTISEGUR SL. This is no minor complaint; it's a fight against the bureaucracy that wastes security guards' time.

The incident took place at the Allegro Isora hotels in the south of the island, an area that thrives on tourism that feels safe because someone, in the shadows, is watching over them. The ATLANTISEGUR security guards are the sentinels of this semblance of peace. But irony, that cruel lady, has it that while they guarantee the safety of others, they themselves lack it.

The complaint filed with the Labor Inspectorate addresses violations that an ordinary person would understand: the company doesn't deliver monthly and annual schedules on time. Life, that thing that happens beyond the gate, can't be planned. You can't balance anything when you don't know if tomorrow you'll have to sleep, work, or simply exist. It's a subtle form of contempt: your time doesn't matter.

Then there's the lack of planning for permanent shifts, an absurdity that the company itself imposes despite the Collective Bargaining Agreement prohibiting it in Article 52.2. And, as if that weren't enough, shifts are changed without even five days' notice, as if the lives of these workers were a game of chess where the pawn moves without question.

The FTSP-USO CANARIAS has requested the issuance of a violation report, a document that, it is hoped, will serve as a shield against the company's arrogance. These security guards' fight is not just for a salary, but for the right to know. To know when you work and when you live. Because for the powerful, time is money. For those at the bottom, it is, quite simply, dignity.
