The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council dismantles an illegal camp on Pasito Bea beach.

An exemplary performance of coordination between security forces and municipal services for the defense of the coast and compliance with the law.

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council led a major operation this morning to eliminate an unauthorized encampment on Pasito Bea beach, where between 35 and 45 tents had been set up without any permit.

The operation, the result of institutional cooperation between the National Police Force, the Civil Guard's SEPRONA (Security and Protection of Persons with Disabilities), and various Local Police units, also had the logistical support of the Municipal Beach Cleaning Service, which was responsible for removing the tents, initially targeting 21 of them.

The operation began after detecting illegal occupation of coastal areas, a practice that violates environmental regulations and safety measures in the municipality's coastal areas. The tents were reported to the Coastal Demarcation and subsequently transferred to the municipal warehouse designated for confiscation, where they will remain in safekeeping.

“The local government wants to make it clear that we are not ignoring these situations. We have received numerous complaints from residents and are responding responsibly. This type of illegal occupation not only violates current regulations, but also represents a serious attack on the orderly use and proper enjoyment of our coastline. Furthermore, it creates serious problems related to safety, hygiene, and environmental degradation that we cannot tolerate.” José Carlos Álamo.

The City Council appreciates the commitment and effectiveness shown by all the participating agencies in this initiative, which reinforces the message of zero tolerance for misuse of the coastal public domain. Today's intervention is part of a broader plan to monitor and control the coastline, which San Bartolomé de Tirajana has been working intensively on in recent months.

The City Council reiterates its determination to maintain a firm line of action that has already yielded positive results. In September 2023, an operation was deployed on Las Carpinteras beach to evict illegally installed campers—several of whom had furniture—; likewise, in October of the same year, an operation was carried out on Montaña La Arena, where several evictions were carried out with police presence and more than 10 tons of waste were removed, eliminating practices that posed a serious danger to users.
